Paas Ki Dukaan
Nearby grocery & pharmacy marketplace on MargERP
A React Native + Expo marketplace that puts neighbourhood grocery and pharmacy stores online. Customers discover stores by pincode or GPS, shop grocery and pharma catalogs side by side, upload prescriptions, keep dual carts, and check out with Razorpay. All of it is backed by MargERP APIs.
Context & role
Paas Ki Dukaan brings local grocery and pharmacy stores online so customers order from neighbourhood shops they already trust, instead of distant warehouses. The Expo app talks to MargERP (`passkidukaanapi.margerp.com`) and ships for iOS and Android under the Paas Ki Dukaan brand.
Unlike a single-seller storefront, this product is a marketplace: location and pincode drive which stores appear, and grocery vs pharmacy are first-class sections with separate catalogs, carts and theming.
The problem
Local retail is split across physical counters: a grocery store for daily essentials and a pharmacy for medicines. Big-app delivery feels distant and impersonal. Families still want their trusted nearby shops, just with digital browsing, prescriptions, reorder and payment.
Building that means one app has to handle store discovery, two product domains (including Rx rules), dual carts, payments and deep links into a specific store without collapsing into a generic warehouse catalog.
Product & solution
- Built the full customer app in React Native + Expo: splash → pincode/location → nearby store list → sectioned home (grocery / pharmacy) → cart → orders → profile
- Implemented multi-store discovery against MargERP explore APIs (pincode and lat/lng), with last-visited grocery and pharmacy store memory
- Shipped dual-domain commerce: separate grocery and pharma category/product endpoints, MedicineDetail vs ProductDetail, dual AsyncStorage carts, and section-aware theming
- Built pharmacy-specific flows: prescription upload (camera / gallery), Rx-aware product handling, and order selection around prescription checkout
- Integrated OTP phone auth, addresses, wishlist, banners (including MargERP encrypted banner API), offers grids, brands, invoices and Razorpay checkout
- Added location permission + map picker (Google Maps / Places / Geocoding), voice search, QR scanning, and deep links (`paaskidukaan://`, `ecomm://store/{id}`) to open a specific store
- Configured EAS development, preview APK and production Android builds for release
Engineering decisions
Two catalogs in one session. Grocery and pharmacy share navigation chrome but disagree on product shape, Rx requirements and cart ownership. Keeping section state, theme colours and cart totals consistent without leaking the wrong catalog into checkout was the main product-architecture problem.
Location-driven store selection. Explore results depend on pincode and GPS, stores can be grocery-only, pharma-only or both, and returning users expect their last pharmacy or grocery store, not a cold empty home. Fetch keys, tab filters and AsyncStorage last-visited stores had to stay in sync with the selected store context.
Marketplace deep links. A QR or shared URL must resolve to a store (and optionally type) before the catalog loads. Custom schemes and HTTPS hosts had to route through a single deep-link handler without breaking the normal pincode → store-list path.
Outcome
Paas Ki Dukaan is live as a neighbourhood grocery + pharmacy marketplace on iOS and Android, with production Expo builds and public listings on the App Store and Google Play.
